Off the stage
Practice is the larger part of the day, but music for Tiến extends beyond practice. He views every performance as a meaningful dialogue connecting composers, history, and the audience.
Outside the practice room, Tien is an avid lover of the arts, engaging in painting and watching ballet since childhood. Music remains a constant part of his daily life, whether he is exploring Beethoven and Bach.
Whenever his schedule allows, Tien teaches lessons in Hanoi, where the next generation of Vietnamese string players is finding its voice.
A short Q&A
- What you are currently listening to
- I am currently listening to a lot of Shostakovich to prepare for a lot of his works including solo and chamber music. I find myself very connected to his music.
- Favorite composers
- So many favorite places to play and to listen to that it practically changes everyday but currently… maybe Shostakovich and Mozart. An unusual combination I know, but it works!
- Outside the practice room
- Outside the practice room I love to socialize with my friends, have good food, pursuing my hobbies, such as the arts and cooking.
